About Moonbeams
Moonbeams is the MYC entry point for older beginners, designed for children who are ready for a more independent approach to learning music.
Music reading becomes a central focus as students develop their skills through piano repertoire, technique, harmonization, folk songs, and ensemble playing. Engaging activities and collaborative music-making keep learning enjoyable while encouraging students to take increasing ownership of their musical development.
No previous MYC experience is required.

60-minute weekly classes • September–June
Tuition: $1,020 for the 2026–2027 year
Payment: In full or 10 monthly payments of $102
Registration & Materials: $225, tax included
Lessons: 35 classes + year-end recital
Experience: No previous MYC experience required

A $225 registration and materials fee is due at registration to reserve your child's place.
Tuition is $1,020 for the 2026–2027 year, payable either in full before the first class or in 10 monthly payments of $102, September through June.
Online registration requires a credit card and is subject to a 2.4% credit card processing fee. If you prefer to pay by e-transfer, please contact us before registering and we'll be happy to arrange your registration and payment directly.

2026-2027 Class Schedule
Classes are expected to begin the week of September 13, 2026 and run through June 11, 2027
Moonbeams Class Time
Wednesday • 6:30PM
The program includes a two-week Christmas break and one-week March Break.
If Atelier Music Academy must cancel a class due to illness, emergency, or another unforeseen circumstance, a make-up class will be scheduled or the program will be extended as necessary.
Home Practice
Regular practice at home is an important part of the MYC program. Students should practice at least 5 days per week.
For Moonbeams students, we recommend approximately 20-30 minutes of practice each day.
Students must have access to a suitable instrument at home for daily practice.
Instrument Requirements
Students need access to a keyboard with:

At least 61 full-size, touch-sensitive keys

Semi-weighted or fully weighted keys
An acoustic piano is also suitable, provided it is kept in tune.

Before You Register
Attendance
MYC is a curriculum-based, full-year program, and your child's place is held for the entire year.
If your child is sick, please do not attend class in person. When possible, an online viewing option or class recording may be provided so your child can follow along.
Missed classes are not refundable or rescheduled. If something important was missed or you have questions about the material, you are welcome to arrive 5 minutes early the following week for a brief recap.
Parent Participation
Moonbeams is designed to encourage greater student independence. Parent participation is encouraged but not required.
Parents are always welcome to stay and observe, particularly when they would like to better understand what their child is learning and how they can support practice at home.
