Janel has provided music instruction and music therapy services for many years to
people of all ages and abilities. Janel graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University (WLU) in
2016 with a Bachelors of Music Therapy. She received Honours with Distinction and
also attained a Minor in Psychology. Janel is a Board-Certified Music Therapist with the
Canadian Association of Music Therapy (CAMT). She also owns Axon Music
Therapy which provides music therapy services and music lessons to private clients and
facilities in Cambridge.

While at WLU, Janel played trombone, piano and guitar. She completed her 1000 hour
internship at Sunnyside Senior Services in Kitchener, working on long-term care and
rehabilitation teams. Janel grew her love of teaching throughout her University years
instructing group and individual lessons in voice, piano, guitar, and ukulele.

Janel is passionate about individuals of all abilities being able to access and learn
music. She incorporates classical and popular music into her lessons and uses
composing, improvising and performing to inspire her students. In her spare time Janel
enjoys hiking, spending time with her family and camping.
